Ingredients: 1 lb. flour 1 tsp salt 1 dsp. honey 1 packet dried yeast lukewarm water 2 smoked rashers 1 small onion 3 crushed cloves of garlic 1 small tub cream 1 dsp olive oil crushed pepper to season grated cheddar cheese (optional) |
Base: Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl with your fingers and add the honey. Gradually add the water until the flour forms a ball. Dust with flour and knead on a floured surface for 5 mins until it becomes elastic. Place in a lightly oiled bowl and coat with the oil. Cover the bowl with a dry cloth or cling film and leave in a warm place for an hour or more until the dough has doubled in size. Topping: Roughly chop and fry the onion in a little oil for two mins and add the bacon chopped into strips. Drain the oil and place the onion and bacon on the base rolled out onto a greased baking tray. Crush the garlic and place on top with the pepper (and cheese). Drizzle the cream over the top and cook in a hot oven until the base turns crispy and the cream golden. |
