50g (2oz) dark chocolate
100g (3 1/2 oz) butter or margerine
200g (7 oz) white sugar
2 eggs
1/2 to 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
75g (3oz) white flour
1/2 teaspoon bread soda (bicarbonate of soda)
pinch of salt
110g (4oz) chopped walnuts
Preheat oven to 180 deg C gas mark 4. Melt the chocolate in a bowl over a pan of gently simmering water. Cream the butter and sugar together and beat in the eggs, vanilla and melted chocolate. Mix in the flour, soda, salt and nuts. Spread the mixture over a greased baking tin and cook for 35 mins or so. Cut into squares. Don't worry if it is sticky in the centre when you cut as this just means that you will have the pleasure of licking your fingers with sticky goo when you eat them !!!!!!!
